Olismi Candle Care
Trimming the Wick: Trim the wick to about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) before lighting the candle. This helps prevent excessive smoking and ensures a steady flame.
First Burn: Allow the candle to burn for a few hours during its first use until the entire surface becomes liquid. This helps prevent tunnelling, where only a small area around the wick melts, leaving wax on the sides.
Burn Time: Avoid burning a candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Extended burning can cause the wick to mushroom and soot affecting the quality of the burn.
Keep the Wax Pool Clean: After extinguishing the flame, make sure the wax pool is clean and free of debris. This helps maintain an even burn and prevents the wick from becoming buried.
Avoid Drafts: Keep candles away from drafts, as they can cause uneven burning and may lead to dripping wax.
Use Candle Snuffers: Consider using a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame instead of blowing it out. This minimizes smoke and prevents hot wax from splattering.
Candle Holder Safety: Place candles in appropriate holders that are heat-resistant and sturdy. This helps prevent accidents and ensures the candle burns evenly.
Rotate Candles: If you have multiple candles in a room, rotate their positions occasionally. This helps them burn more evenly and prevents one side from melting faster than the other.
Storage: Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent discoloration and melting.
